Leyburn store shortlisted for national retail award
Campbells of Leyburn are celebrating after being shortlisted for the 2010 Retail Industry Awards. Competing against some of the UK’s major players, such as Tesco and Waitrose, Campbells of Leyburn beat off strong competition in the Independent Retailer of the Year award.
The Retail Industry Awards, now in its 15th year, recognises everyone from the smallest independent retailers to the major supermarket chains.
Sponsored by Cadbury, the entry criteria included financial performance, store development, product development, staff training, marketing and advertising, community involvement, supplier relationships and environmental efforts.
Set in the quaint market town of Leyburn, the grocery store has been owned by the Campbell family since 1868, providing a range of products to the people of Leyburn and surrounding areas.
Over the past 12 months, Campbells of Leyburn have enlisted the help of marketing communications agency, hpmgroup, to grow and develop the company, increasing awareness of the range of products, including over 2000 varieties of wine.
Doug Campbell, Proprietor of Campbells of Leyburn said: “This is such an overwhelming experience but I would like to thank our customers for their loyal support over the years. We have invested heavily in store development, staff training and advertising over the past year, and thankfully it is starting to pay off after being shortlisted for this prestigious award.”
The awards ceremony will be hosted at the newly built Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel on 30 September 2010.
We wish Doug and all at Campbells of Leyburn all the very best in their category.
