Environmental management policy

hpmgroup recognises the need for sustainable development and as such is committed to the use of processes and procedures that will lead to an improvement in the environment. The company is committed to ISO:14001 environmental management system. This policy sets out the company’s aims and objectives in this area and the methods by which these aims can be achieved. Company aims As a company committed to continual improvement, hpmgroup aims to: · Prevent pollution through controlling discharge to the atmosphere in terms of air and noise pollution and controlling discharge to drains and water courses. · Monitor and control the storage and use of chemistry and solvents in the printing process. · Monitor and control waste management and encourage greater recycling of waste materials. · Monitor, control and reduce wastage in energy consumption. · Inform and educate staff on environmental issues and ensure that they are aware that environmental management is the responsibility of everyone at hpmgroup. · Ensure that all sales, estimating & administration staff are knowledgeable about the use of environmentally friendly materials and actively encourage customers to consider these products wherever possible. · Ensure that the decision making in relation to the purchase of plant, equipment and technology includes a review of the environmental impacts involved. · Comply with current environmental legislative requirements and with other requirements which the company subscribes to which relate to its environmental aspects. Methodology The methods used to fulfill our environmental aims are as follows: · Integrate the company’s identified environmental requirement into the existing ISO:9001 internal audit process to ensure that all operations conform to policy requirements. · Inform staff about environmental issues and their role in improving environmental practice through managers, training, information sheets and notice boards. Assigning environmental responsibilities to managers where appropriate. · Ensure that adequate documentation, records, systems and control procedures are in place and review and evaluate environmental management to aim for continual improvement. · Make use of investment to improve chemical control, minimise waste and increase recycling. · Work with major suppliers and contractors to ensure environmental factors are fully integrated into our procurement programme. This environmental policy will be held under constant review and formally reviewed on at least an annual basis to ensure compliance.
