County Durham Drug and Alcohol Action Team commissioned a body of work from photographer Adrian Clarke, to chronicle a series of case studies and images of people in the North East who have been associated with, or involved in the drugs culture. The result of the work impressed the DAAT to the extent that they then part funded the production of a book. As part of this production, hpm were asked to launch the book with a showcase event.

The purpose of the book was to tell the hard and difficult stories of several individuals. Because of the strength of the imagery and the need to create an impact, Adrian Clarke needed a design which emphasised the graphic nature of the stories. The event itself was held at Durham Cathedral, one of the most iconic buildings within the UK. The event was attended by some of the most high profile public service personnel from the UK and hosted by Baroness Corston who published a critically acclaimed report into vulnerable women in prison.

The book has received critical acclaim, not least of which from Baroness Helena Kennedy. As a result of the PR activity, The Guardian ran a feature in their "Weekend" magazine, and there have been numerous articles in national and local press.
